This Election and the Future of Analytic Training
Why does this election matter?
On July 31, 2030-one month after Bill Glover or I completes our presidential term-all APsA analysts-in-training (who will begin their training on or after July 31, 2030) will have to follow the IPA teletraining rules then in force. As an independent component society, we only have five years to conduct credible research demonstrating what we can about the effectiveness of online training. Given how many of institutes and analysts-in-training depend on online training for their survival, I believe APsA needs a leader with deep experience doing online training of analysts-in-training.
My nearly two decades of deep immersion in teleanalysis and teletraining is crucial to helping guide APsA through this moment-thoughtfully, collaboratively, and in a way that remains grounded in psychoanalytic values. I have directed an institute internationally recognized for distance-mediated analytic education; chaired the International Teleanalysis Clinical Research Group; participated in IPA pre-Congress conferences focused on teleanalytic teaching, treatment, and research; and presented repeatedly within APsA on these questions. This expertise positions me to help guide APsA through this pivotal period with clarity, steadiness, and integrity.
The consequences of our leadership choice will be felt almost immediately-and will shape the future of APsA long beyond this election.
I would be honored to help guide APsA through this pivotal period with clarity, steadiness, and integrity.
